Woodcraft for Wellbeing Online

Woodcraft for Wellbeing Online is a six week Nature based Mindfulness and Wellbeing programme.

This programme is created by The Therapeutic Forest CIC and funded by East Lancashire CCG under the Prescription for Wellbeing programme.

What will I learn?

In this online programme, our team introduce you to 6 Mindful and Meditative Nature based activities. Alongside these activities a Clinical Psychologist will introduce you to a weekly evidence based technique you can practice to support your long term Mental Health and Wellbeing.

The programme takes just 30 minutes a week, and upon completion you will have a simple toolbox of activities and techniques to support your Mental Health and Wellbeing.
Week 1 introduces Mindful Walking. We find out how you can use the every day practice of walking as a mindfulness practice; tuning in to your environment and getting more out of your time in nature.
Week 2 introduces Therapeutic Nature Photography.  Nature photography has been shown to have benefits to individuals mental health, encouraging us to slow down, get creative and connect with nature.
Week 3 introduces Mindful Bushcraft. Bushcraft is an activity that requires focus and immersion, creating a space for us to be fully present. We pair introductory bushcraft videos with a mindfulness strategy; using objects as a tool to build your mindfulness practice.
Week 4 introduces Guided Nature Meditation. You don't need to be in wild places to experience nature. This week you will experience a Guided Nature Meditation, paired with the wellbeing strategy 'Peaceful Place', so you can experience nature and a feeling of calm wherever you are.
Week 5 introduces Firelighting for Relaxation. Humans experience a relaxation response when sitting around a fire- fires helping us feel calmer, more sociable and can even reduce blood pressure. This week we find out how to safely light a fire and discover a Breathing Technique to calm your nervous system.
Week 6 introduces Foraging Happy!
This week we find out how to get started foraging! Foraging is an enjoyable activity and a fantastic tool for wellbeing- encouraging us to get active, be in nature and take notice of our surroundings.
