Gaining a Forest School qualification is a big achievement. But once the study period is over, many Forest School Leaders are on their own.

The fully accredited Newly Qualified Forest School Leader Programme supports you through this transition, helping you to emerge as a confident and highly competent practitioner.

You'll receive a high level of support from our team of experienced Forest School Leaders, designed to build your confidence in a wide range of areas; from fire lighting and tool use to supporting children with SEND to knowing how to progress your career as a Forest School Leader.

The Certificate in Therapeutic Skills for Outdoor Leaders

Our flagship course, The Certificate in Therapeutic Skills for Outdoor Leaders, is included in this programme of support.

In this course you'll receive therapeutic training from our multi-disciplinary therapy team to equip you with the skills to support children with diverse needs in Forest School settings.

We spread the course over a year long period to give you plenty of time to get to grips with the content.

Skill Development Day

Boost your confidence with hands-on workshops led by experienced Forest School leaders, focusing on key area's such as tool use, fire lighting, risk assessment and leading forest school games and activities.

Session Planning Workshop

In our Session Planning Workshops you'll hear how experienced Forest School Leaders plan their sessions, building on the interests of the children in the group.

You'll have opportunities to discuss common difficulties when planning sessions and how to overcome them.

Mentorship groups

As part of The Therapeutic Forest's Newly Qualified Forest School programme, you will gain access to 6 mentorship groups spread over the year.

Our mentorship groups are led by experienced Forest School Leaders. They are a safe space to ask any questions you have.

Each session has a theme, focusing on key issues you may experience as a early career Forest School Leader.

Careers Support Session

As part of The Newly Qualified Forest School Leader programme you'll have access to a Career Planning webinar, where you can hear from our experienced team on a range of issues affecting a Forest School Leader- from pay to becoming self employed to starting your own Community Interest Company or Business.

Wellbeing Workshops

Led by Clinical Psychologists, these sessions help you to manage the transition to a new career.

Sessions include support managing stress, building resilience, managing financial challenges and building a support network.

Entry Requirements

To register on The Newly Qualified Forest School Leader Programme you need to be an Early Career Forest School Leader, having qualified in the past 3 years.
